New Website Fills Employment Void:
Local Experts Respond to Local Need with Free Access Job Portal
OLDS, ALBERTA – March 6, 2019 – After six months without a local employment portal, job seekers and employers in the Mountain View County region (and beyond) can now access a new free online job board. Local entrepreneurs, Melissa Maschke and Kim Free partnered in the project to develop the service, launched on February 28th, as typical recruiting sites have proven to be ineffective for rural business owners and job seekers.
“We believe that connections to the community are crucial in filling local positions,” says Maschke, cofounder of the new website and owner of Key Employment Services. “Plus a local job site is a more accurate indication of how active our labour market is in the area, which is incredibly valuable information for economic development within the region.”
The website emerged through a strategic partnership between Maschke, an employment counsellor with over 20 years of experience and Free, owner of Small Town Girl Promotions, an online marketer and social media strategist. The new job website, www.mvcareers.ca , is free for both employers and job seekers to use. In addition to local job postings, visitors can access additional resources, including links to other job search sites and government agencies with resources for employers featured as well. Businesses from Olds, Didsbury, Innisfail, Sundre, Carstairs, Cremona, Bowden, Three Hills and Torrington are welcome to use the site.
“We’re both business owners who saw a need within our area”, says Free, “and we decided to fill it as partners and provide the platform to area businesses.”
